WOMAN DIES IN HOSPITAL AFTER HIGHWAY CRASH

A 35-year-old woman has died in hospital from injuries sustained in yesterday’s truck crash on the Bruxner Highway at Alstonville.

Police have been told the woman’s car crossed to the wrong side of the road and crashed into the truck.

The truck driver was not injured but was taken to Lismore Base Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

The crash happened just hours after police launch Operation NorthForce, aimed at reducing the region’s road toll.

“We’re up by 20 fatals a year in the northern region, and this has caused us to look at what we’re doing there, which has caused us to put in Operation North Force”

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
