LISMORE MAYOR MOVES TO SLASH HOSPITAL PARKING FEES
Lismore’s new mayor is making hospital parking a priority, in tomorrow’s first official meeting of the new council.
Councillor Isaac Smith is proposing a cut to the current paid parking in Dalziel Street from $5 a day, to $2, a move designed to reduce the financial burden on hospital staff, and ease congestion in surrounding areas.
The Lismore branch of the NSW Nurses and Midwives Association says it’s a step in the right direction, but more needs to be done.
“Dalziel street is only a small part of that precinct, there are many other streets, and we would like the whole precinct to be fixed to $2 a day as was agreed and was signed in this pledge that I’m holding.”
The proposal will be put to the vote tomorrow night.
