There were plenty of kids on the move at Speers Point Park today, as some of the region’s less prominent sports were showcased.
It was all part of the Hunter Academy of Sport’s open day, designed to encourage children to have a go at something new.
“You’ve got some that traditionally don’t have a lot of registrations so golf, AFL etc in the region, so really looking for people to come out and try something they’ve never done before”, says Brett O’Farrell from Hunter Academy of Sport.
The event also included a fun run along the waterfront, raising money for the New South Wales Cancer Council.
