54-YEAR-OLD WOMAN DIES IN COLLISION BETWEEN JET SKI AND A BOAT

A crash between a jet ski and a boat on the mid north coast has resulted in the death of a 54-year-old woman, while an 8-year-old boy was airlifted from the scene with a broken leg.

Around 5:30pm on Friday afternoon, a boat and a jet ski collided on the Nerong Inlet at Nerong, south of Forster.

The rider of the jet ski, the 54-year-old woman, died at the scene.

An eight-year-old boy, who was also on the jet ski, was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital. He is to undergo surgery for a broken leg.

The 46-year-old male skipper of the boat sustained a broken nose and ribs. He was also airlifted to hospital. A child on board the boat was uninjured.

The Marine Area Command are working with police to investigate the crash.
