A 58-year-old man has been charged with murder, following the shooting death of a woman in Maitland this morning.
Police were called to Bella Street at Horseshoe Bend just before 3:30am, following reports of shots fired.
The 56-year-old local woman’s body was found at the scene.
Police have confirmed the incident is domestic violence related.
The Taree man is also facing a string of other charges, including possessing an unregistered firearm.
He didn’t apply for bail in Maitland Local Court today, and it was formally refused.
He’s due to appear in Newcastle Local Court via audio visual link on December 7.
