The Red Cross Blood Service is urging Novocastrians to roll up their sleeves and donate this long weekend.
The service says it often experiences shortages of donated blood and plasma in the days following a public holiday.
In Newcastle, 25 donors are needed to fill vacant appointments on Monday, while there are 13 spots left on Tuesday.
To donate, call the Red Cross on 13 14 95.
