NBN’S GAVIN MORRIS FLIES FROM THE SUMMIT OF MT KILIMANJARO

NBN Weatherman Gavin Morris has completed an amazing feat for charity, AND become the first Australian paraglider pilot to fly tandem from the summit of Africa’s highest mountain – Kilimanjaro.
“We just launched from 19,000 feet baby! Yeahhhh! Woo hoo! Yeah we did it from the summit!”
Gav and his flying partner – Newcastle musician Kristy Coote – took advantage of a small window of opportunity.
“It’s a beautiful morning, perfect conditions. The glacier down here behind me – there it is there – much smaller from when I was last here, it has shrunk dramatically. But that has opened up this launch. The first opportunity anyone has had to fly from this point.”
Coote has raised $20,000 for the Wings of Kilimanjaro charity, helping to create schools and access to fresh water in Tanzania.
