• A 77-year-old man has been charged with 18 historic child sex offences. He was arrested at Forster, on the mid north coast yesterday. Police allege the offences occurred between 1973 and 1977 in the Newcastle area.
• There’s been a dramatic development in the Tialeigh Palmer murder case, with the man accused of her murder, in an induced coma. The 12-year-old’s step father, Richard Thorburn was due to front court today, over her death.
• The Prime Minister has increased Australia’s refugee intake to 19,000 per year – also announcing a $130-million aid package.
• Police have officially charged a man accused of planting bombs in New York and New Jersey.
• Meanwhile – outrage at the release of a video showing the moment officers shot dead an unarmed black pastor.
• And one of Hollywoods most high profile marriages is now over, with Angelina Jolie filing for divorce from Brad Pitt, citing irreconcilable differences.
