SCHOOLS COMPETE IN COAST TO COUNTRY CUP

Schools from across the state were in Forster today, for the annual rugby union Coast to Country Cup.

Students battled it out in the under 14s and under 16s divisions.

“we’ve got 22 teams competing across 2 of those, so around about 450 kids, and parents, coaches, volunteers so it’s a pretty big day, and for us it’s probably one of our better tournaments of the year,” NSW Rugby Development Manager Andrew Hill said.

The competition is aimed at growing participation in the sport, while scouting for up-and-coming talent.

“The best thing about this tournament is the best teams will progress to the finals, and they’ll play against the other best teams, but for the teams that aren’t performing so well, they’ll play against teams that are at a like level.”
