- Ricardo Da Silva will spend at least 18 years behind bars for the brutal murder of his former partner – Wyong High school teacher Amanda Carter. The 46 year old mother was found dead in her Woongarrah home in 2010 – her injuries so severe, she couldn’t be immediately identified. Da Silva will be eligible for parole in 2031 when he is 82 years old.
- The main suspect in the New York and New Jersey bombings has been arrested following a three day manhunt. Police were involved in a dramatic shoot-out with the 28-year-old, before taking him into custody.
- A lawyer for Formula One driver Michael Schumacher has revealed the racing legend still isn’t able to walk after a skiing accident three years ago.
- And a volcano has put on a spectacular show in Costa Rica – spewing ash and smoke high into the night sky. Huge rocks were thrown from the massive crater as it violently erupted – twice.
