A 29-year-old man will face court today, after he was charged with firearm and drug offences, following a vehicle stop at Charlestown.
A silver Mitsubishi Lancer was stopped by officers at around 10pm last night along the Newcastle Inner City Bypass at Mount Hutton.
Police say they searched the car after the driver provided a false name, allegedly seizing cannabis and a replica pistol.
The 29-year-old is facing a string of offences including breaching bail and possessing a prohibited drug.
