PWCS STRIKE ACTION TO GO AHEAD

Negotiations between unions and Port Waratah Coal Services have fallen through, with workers announcing they’ll go ahead with strike action tomorrow.
Both parties have been debating job security and a pay rise for more than eight months.
Local unions including MUA and the Transport Workers Union have accused PWCS of anti-union proposals that are an attack on workers’ job security.
Ian Bray, the Assistant National Secretary of MUA said “Despite the stiff resistance we have encountered from PWCS today, we remain committed to secure an agreement but, at this point, we are utilising the other legal tools at our disposal which includes Wednesday’s work stoppage.”
Workers at the coal terminal will stop work for four hours.
