CHARGES LAID AFTER SHOT FIRED DURING ALTERCATION NORTH OF NEWCASTLE
A man has been charged after a gunshot was allegedly fired during an altercation north of Newcastle yesterday.
According to police, two men allegedly became involved in an altercation around 5pm yesterday on Masonite Road, Tomago. One of the men left during the fight but returned a short time later with a firearm, and fired a shot in the air.
Neither the 40-year-old gunman, nor the other man, aged 41, were injured.
Police subsequently responded to reports of gun fire at the property. On arrival, they allegedly located and seized a firearm and four cannabis plants.
The 40-year-old man was charged with a number of offences including firing a firearm in or near a public place, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and cultivating a prohibited plant.
