EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT PRESENTATIONS DOWN

Figures released by the Bureau of Health Statistics, show Northern Rivers hospitals are bucking state wide trends.

Year-on-year emergency department presentations throughout the Local Health district fell by around 400 last quarter, despite rising across the state.

Treatment times also improved, with around 80 percent of patients seen on time compared to around 78 percent last year.

Elective surgery, however, saw an increase in the same period – doctors performing around 200 more procedures.
