Police are scouring the Gold Coast hinterland after police helicopters tracked a wanted vehicle there this afternoon.
A stolen black BMW was located abandoned in the Numinbah Valley, and police are now searching for the male driver, believed to be Ben Gorend.
He is believed to be armed with a firearm. Members of the public are advised to not approach Mr Gorend.
Police have closed the Nerang – Murwillumbah Road between Pine Creek Road and Daves Creek Road.
If anyone sees the man or notice any suspicious activity, they should contact police immediately.
