We have been ripped off!
The minister said that the contract is a 25% saving for the people of NSW. The biggest cost in any contract like this is labour costs. The people in Korea get paid a lot less than workers in NSW, almost half. So someone is making an extra 20% out for this deal. 20% = $460,000,000 AUD. Also, do the companies in South Korea meet the Australian Standards on workplace health and safety and environmental policies? Is it OK for people to get seriously injured or killed at work as long as it is not in Australia? Is environmental damage not our problem if it is happening overseas? Value for money does not mean whatever is cheapest!
I agree with all Tim stated but to add to that…. all money paid to a Korean company does nothing for Aus. If we build them in NSW we get wages/jobs and therefore tax. We get the ability of those wage earners to buy things. So we get GST payments. The money invested by the government benefits them and therefore us.
Bunch of Einsteins in control think we are saving by going to Korea for the build. Wankers all.
