Relief could be in sight for patients at Macksville Hospital, with a boost to nursing numbers.
The hospital has only been able to fill half of its beds due to a shortage of nurses, with patients being directed to Coffs Harbour and Bellingen.
Following an intensive recruitment campaign new staff are now due to start work at the hospital next month.
I am advised that as of last week we are recruiting five or six new graduate nurses who will assist us and they will commence early in September at the hospital.
