Environmental activists are now demanding that AGL bring forward the shutdown of the Liddell Power Station at Muswellbrook, after the company was forced to close Lake Liddell to the public due to contamination.
The move was taken back in March after the detection of a potentially deadly micro-organism.
The energy company announced last year that it plans to close all of its coal-fired power stations by 2050.
