PLANS FOR SHARK BARRIER AT LIGHTHOUSE BEACH SCRAPPED

The state government has announced plans for a shark barrier at Ballina’s Lighthouse Beach have been scrapped.
It comes after a third unsuccessful attempt to install the device.
Consistently large swell and sand movement has made for unsafe work conditions, hindering installation.
The DPI say it’ll continue working with the local community to explore shark mitigation technologies.
Meanwhile, installation of a shark barrier at Lennox Head is progressing.
