RICHARDSON, SHOEBRIDGE, PUSH FOR RE-DRAFTED COASTAL PLAN
The contents of Byron Shire Council’s highly controversial coastal zone management plan, could remain up for debate.
Mayor Simon Richardson and Greens MLC David Shoebridge, are calling on planning minister Rob Stokes, to send the document back to council for a re-draft.
“We deserve better, we can do better and I have no doubt that the Minister will understand that and give us, as a community, the opportunity to get it right.”
“There’s a very real concern that the State Government is just trying to squeeze money out of many of the coastal caravan parks and coastal reserves, regardless of the environmental values or the wishes of the local community.”
A petition, seeking the document’s return following September’s council election, is currently circulating.
