A new era dawned for rail passengers in the Hunter today, with paper tickets now a thing of the past.
Extra staff were at Broadmeadow station to help commuters make the transition to the Opal card system.
“We would expect odd hiccups but overall it’s been an incredIble rollout, and as I said, we have people on hand to assist, we’ve had 10,000 transactions on the top-up machines.”
Meanwhile, Hamilton station will be closed for the next two weeks while upgrades are carried out.
Buses are replacing trains between there and Broadmeadow.
