Around 40 people braved the chilly conditions this morning, for the start of a massive journey from Newcastle to Sydney.
Adaptive surfer Jade Wheatley is behind the Walk for Waves event, working to raise awareness and funds for his team to travel to the World Adaptive Surfing Championships.
“There’s going to be some hard times no doubt, but we’re pretty lucky. We’ve been blessed with a gorgeous day today,” said Wheatley.
They’re expected to arrive at Manly Beach on August 9.
