Video of a 6,000 volt cattle prod allegedly being used on a greyhound at The Gardens race track in Newcastle, has been handed to police.
The footage, which was forwarded on by Greyhound Racing NSW, appears to show the device being used during a private trial session in 2012.
The incident has shocked the RSPCA, which says the prod would have inflicted serious pain.
Greyhound Racing NSW says police will investigate whether criminal charges can be laid.
