NEARLY 20,000 DEFECTIVE VEHICLE NOTICES ISSUED IN NSW OVER THE LAST 12 MONTHS
Police issued nearly 1000 defective vehicle notices on the state’s Mid North Coast in the last financial year, and more than 800 in the Hunter Valley during the same period.
In total, police issued 19,998 defects to vehicles for mechanical violations, as well as brake, tyre, and light faults, and fuel and oil leaks.
Drivers issued with a defect infringement notice receive a $108 fine. Those found driving vehicles after being issued an infringement notice face further penalties between $325 and $433, and loss of demerits points.

Coffs Harbour: 154
Police said the focus on defective vehicles will continue to ensure road safety as a priority.
