KEMPSEY COUNCIL REJIGS FIT FOR THE FUTURE PLAN
Kempsey Shire Council has re-submitted its proposal to be considered ‘Fit for the Future’ by the State Government.
It says after reassessing the value of its assets, the financial outlook is better than originally thought.
“We also have a little bit of extra income that we need to get from rates, so we’re probably looking at an increase there of about 7%, but that’s well down on what we were previously looking at, which was around 25% increase over a number of years,” General Manager David Rawlings said.
But Council still needs to find about $500,000 worth of savings to be considered financially fit.
“We’re going through a series of service reviews and all of our functions so that will just identify things where we’ve got processes that can be improved, or where we’re doing things that aren’t really adding a lot of value.”
