Rough conditions didn’t deter boardriders in Newcastle today, with close to 100 taking part in the inaugural Flatrock Festival of Surfing.
The event not only a chance to hit the waves, but a fundraiser for two families in need.
“One being a local guy that surfs out here and his family has been struck by cancer unfortunately and then another within the community, people may recall a father lost his life in boomerang saving his two sons so the east end boardriders has come together and suggested we donate to those two worthy causes,” said organiser Pete Cox.
