CALLS FOR NSW TO FOLLOW QUEENSLAND AND BAN TOXIC FOAMS

Labor is demanding the Premier follow Queensland’s lead and ban the use of the fire fighting chemicals at the centre of the Williamtown contamination scandal.
Member for Port Stephens Kate Washington says while many airports have already moved away from using foam containing P-FOS and P-FOA, it’s still being used by some industries.
She’s calling for an audit, to gauge the extent of the chemicals’ use and stock levels.
The EPA says the chemicals have not been imported since around 2003.
