AMALGAMATION DISCUSSIONS ABANDONED AGAIN
For the third time in a week, Newcastle Council has abandoned discussions over a motion to withdraw plans to seek legal advice over forced amalgamations.
Tabled by Newcastle’s Liberal Councillors, all three have failed to attend any of the meetings, meaning they cannot proceed.
“There is no place for this type of not turning up, and petty games, by these Liberal Councillors in Newcastle. The expectation is that we will turn up and deal with these issues when they arise,” said Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes.
A fourth meeting has been scheduled for Thursday night.
