STATE GOVERNMENT FINES BLAKEBROOK QUARRY

The operators of Blakebrook Quarry, outside Lismore, have been fined $15,000 for failing to undertake a groundwater assessment.

Department of Planning and Environment officials have confirmed mining has already commenced in the quarry’s south pit, without an assessment complete.

It’s now ordered operators to clean up their act or risk further action in the land and environment court.
