McLEAN AND McSPADDEN A PART OF HISTORY FOR SAPPHIRES

Hunter basketballers Cassidy McLean and Lara McSpadden, have helped Australia to an historic gold medal at the Under-17 World Championships.

After handing the United States its first-ever loss in the tournament in the semis, the Sapphires met Italy in the decider.

The Aussies took control in the first quarter and never looked back.

Having never finished higher than fifth in previous campaigns, the result was easily Australia’s best at the championships.
