CHILLI CONNOISSEURS TAKE A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE

There were a few teary eyes in Sawtell on Saturday, as foodies sampled some of the spicy treats on offer at this year’s Sawtell Chilli Festival.

Organisers turned up the heat with live cooking demonstrations, as well as an array of chilli-related food.

“Doesn’t look like the polling booths have kept too many away, it’s been good.”

The festival, which is now in its 17th year, attracts thousands of visitors to the seaside village.

“We just ate the chilli and it’s quite hot.” “The 15 Chilli Factor… Oh.”

“This is a chilli chocolate doughnut and it’s awesome.”

And for those who found the heat a little too much, there were live performances, rides and dancing to keep everyone entertained.
