‘BLACK PEARL’ LOOK-A-LIKE SAILS INTO NEWCASTLE

Turning heads wherever she goes, a fifteenth-century, replica sailing ship has made a stop-over in Newcastle Harbour.

Looking like Jack Sparrow’s Black Pearl, the Notorious was built in Victoria, six years ago along the lines of a Spanish caravel.

Hidden beneath the tarred timbers is a modern Nav system and diesel engine.

The ship is open for inspection at the Maritime Centre wharf, before it sets sail to Port Stephens on its way to Queensland.
