  • A teenage boy has saved his family from a house fire at Holmesville near Newcastle. The blaze broke out about 5am and 16 year old Dillan Minchin woke up, before waking the other 6 members of his family and getting everyone including their Husky dog out safely. An electrical fault is thought to have been the cause.
  • A passenger bus has smashed into several cars and a shopfront on Sydney’s north shore, leaving one person seriously injured and three others hospitalised. A 67-year-old man suffering leg, pelvis and internal injuries.
  • 13 people have been arrested in raids across Turkey, in the wake of the deadly attack on Ataturk airport. Heavily armed officers stormed 16 properties, across three neighbourhoods in Istanbul. It comes after the Turkish Prime Minister confirmed the three suicide bombers came from Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
  • Troubled Parramatta star Semi Radradra has told the NRL club he wants to play against Cronulla. The NRL player was arrested at Sydney airport last night and charged with three counts of domestic violence after complaints from his former partner.
  • Foreign minister Julie Bishop has been caught using her mobile phone while driving. Ms Bishop was snapped behind the wheel of a campaign car in Perth, where using a mobile while driving attracts a four hundred dollar fine.
  • The young royals – Prince William, Prince Harry and the Duchess of Cambridge – have attended a vigil to remember those who died in the Battle of the Somme, 100 years ago.
  • And some amazing pictures for you today from Newcastle boatie Jason Moffatt. Jason had taken his boat for a run a few miles out off Newcastle and was enjoying the calm sea, when a pod of about 5 whales came over to check him out. Jason says the experience was both magic and an adrenaline rush.
