NEW SITE EARMARKED FOR RAINBOW CROSSING

After a failed attempt to create a permanent rainbow crossing at Hamilton last year, Newcastle Council has now earmarked a new site.
Councillors voted in favour of Islington Park as the home for the colourful crossing, which is designed to mark the area’s historical association with the gay and lesbian community.
It’s set to be painted on a section of the new shared pathway, being constructed near Throsby Creek.
