SECOND ROAD FATALITY IN AS MANY DAYS NEAR PORT MACQUARIE
A man has died and four others have been injured as the result of a four vehicle crash on the Mid-North Coast yesterday.
Shortly before 9pm on Sunday, emergency services responded to reports of a crash on the Pacific Highway at Blackmans Point.
Police say a white Holden Commodore collided head on with a black Fiat and then crashed into a b-double truck.
The initial impact pushed the Fiat into the path of a fourth vehicle, a white Hyundai.
The driver of the Commodore, a 32-year-old man who was trapped as a result of the collision, was taken to Port Macquarie hospital in a critical condition, but has since died from his injuries. His 37-year-old female passenger was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the truck, a 36-year-old man, was uninjured. He underwent mandatory testing.
The driver of the black Fiat, a 33-year-old woman, and a 5-year-old female passenger, sustained minor injuries. Three other passengers in the car were uninjured.
The driver of the white Hyundai, a 22-year-old woman, and a female passenger sustained minor injuries.
The death follows another fatality at Telegraph Point on Saturday night.
Investigations are continuing.
