TAMWORTH DOMINATE RIVALS

Despite missing nine regulars to representative duties, Tamworth have inflicted an eight wicket defeat on Armidale in Round Two of the War Veterans Cup at Number One Oval.

After the visitors struggled to five for 131, Stephen Butler’s dismissal sparked a mini collapse.

Top scorer Andrew Brownlie caught shortly after on 34, as Armidale were all out for 156.

Rain forcing an early lunch after Tamworth smashed 13 runs from the first over of the chase.

Returning to the field, opener Simon Norvill leading the charge with 88 off 40 balls.

The home side scoring the winning runs on the first ball of the 16th over.

“It’s been a really good start for us. It’s a proud, proud game for us playing in the War Vets. We’ve won it for quite a few years now, and we wanna keep that run going.”
