Returning to surfing, and Port Macquarie’s Matt Banting has been shown the door at the Fiji Pro, losing to former world champion Gabriel Medina in round three.
Proving no match for the Brazilian, Banting spent most of the heat waiting for a big wave that never came, his best score only a 2.6.
Medina set the bar high, opening with a 6.5 point ride, on his way to a combined score of 14.5.
