Newcastle bodyboarder Garth McGregor has missed out on a place in the final of the Shark Island Challenge, despite some impressive rides on day two of the competition.
McGregor managed an eight point eight early in his heat, to put himself in contention, but he couldn’t find a second big score.
Like several of his rivals, the Novocastrian suffered a few heavy wipeouts at the treacherous break off the coast of Cronulla.
Mitch Rawlins from the Gold Coast took out the five-man final.
