WEATHER CAUSES MINOR DISRUPTIONS IN HUNTER

The wild weather has caused some minor disruption in the Hunter this afternoon, with a yacht and a catamaran each breaking their moorings in Shoal Bay this morning.

The boats washed up on Shoal Bay beach – the region’s first casualties of the East Coast Low.

Meanwhile, a large tree has fallen onto a busy road in the Newcastle suburb of New Lambton, causing one lane of traffic to be closed off.

The low pressure system is expected to move down the coast this evening.
