MOTORISTS URGED TO TAKE CARE DURING EAST COAST LOW

Police are urging motorists to be cautious on the state’s roads over the weekend, with heavy rain, damaging winds and potential flooding due to a forecast East Coast Low this weekend.

A flood-watch has been issued by the Bureau of Meterology this afternoon.

The system is expected to hit the coast near the New South Wales – Queensland border late on Saturday and move south over Sunday and Monday.

There is no official flood warning declared for any part of the state yet.

Motorists are reminded to never enter flood waters or cross flooded causeways.
