A 4-year-old child has died after being trapped in a vehicle that slipped into the water at a boat ramp on the Hawkesbury River.
Shortly before 11am, police and paramedics responded to reports of a vehicle sliding into the water with a boy trapped inside at a caravan park on River Road, Lower Portland.
Police were told a vehicle was reversing a boat and trailer into the river, when the vehicle slipped into the water. The boy was strapped into a car-seat in the back seat.
The strong current made locating the vehicle difficult to locate. Police divers were eventually able to recover the boy, but he was unable to be revived.
A search continues for the vehicle and boat.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
