BAT ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE
The New South Wales Government is set to make $1 million available to local councils to fight bat infestations.
The north west has had a problem with the pests in the last three years, after 80,000 took up residence along Tamwoth’s Peel River in 2015, and caused regular power outages.
While in Inverell, a camp stripped 150-year-old trees of vegetation.
The state will provide one dollar for every two dollars Councils spend on managing the problem.
