FORMER FLATMATE CHARGED OVER GOLD COAST HOME INVASION
The former flatmate of a Helensvale man who was allegedly bashed and robbed in a terrifying home invasion last year has been charged over his alleged involvement.
Police allege the 44-year-old man played a role in the bashing and robbery of 51-year-old Scott Vidler in his Gold Coast home by three men on September 1 last year.
CCTV of the alleged attack shows Mr Vidler being threatened with a knife, tied up, then forced to watch as three men raided his home.
Police allege one of the men inflicted two knife wounds on Mr Vidler, cutting the tendon of one wrist “right down to the bone”.
A fourth man can be seen in the video but cannot be identified.
Police have since arrested and charged three men over the alleged attack.
They have also charged the former flatmate, alleging that he was on the scene at the time and played a part in the robbery.
Police claim the attack was planned the night before at a home several suburbs away.
The three men were allegedly filmed by security cameras at a Caltex Service Station prior to entering Mr Vidler’s home.
The video will form part of the evidence used by the prosecution.
A spokeswoman for Queensland Police has described the allegations as “quite serious” and admitted evidence against the former flatmate was “quite weak”.
