HOUSING DEVELOPMENT SPARKS COMMUNITY OUTCRY
A controversial proposal for a housing development in Berkley Vale is continuing to ruffle feathers.
Residents are seeing red, after a fence was built around the site slated for the project- suggesting it will go ahead.
While the land was rezoned two years ago, the development application is yet to be given the green light.
It’s been met with opposition from some, who have concerns about the environmental impacts.
“At the end of the day this land has mostly been rezoned for residential purposes so there will be houses there will be something in the order of 200 houses there over the next couple of years, Mayor Doug Eaton said.
Just under half the site will be preserved for conservation purposes.
Council hopes the development will help address the growing demand for affordable housing along the Central Coast.

Story is incomplete.
The big plan is for 500 houses, tightly packed into the parcel of land.
We are also protesting on grounds that the local and surrounding infrastructure cannot cope with this sort of expansion, infrastructure is at its limit now and council does not recognise this.
