NORTHERN SCHOOLS PRIME LAMB COMPETITION

Tamworth Showground was full of future farmers – and judges – today, putting theory into practice as part of the annual Northern Schools Prime Lamb competition.
12 schools from across the New England North West took part, including about 150 students.
“They’re also involved in bringing their lambs and their lambs go into lead lamb, medium, light weight and heavy weight lambs and they’re judged on the hoof today and the hook tomorrow.”
The aim is to encourage more students to get involved in the agriculture industry.
“Some of those will go on as our industry leaders, take the next step up and go on and teach or advise or be involved or buy their own properties.”
