MARINE RESCUE VOLUNTEERS HONOURED FOR DECADES OF SERVICE
Five Marine Rescue volunteers on the Central Coast have been awarded for their decades of service.
Former Unit Commander Norm Smith has been a volunteer for 35 years, the 74-year-old having watched the base evolve from its humble beginnings.
“When I started in 1980 we used our own boats, paid for our own fuel, paid for our own uniforms. Fortunately today, we are one big organisation which combined a few groups.”
