A man has been charged overnight, after an alleged assault at Warners Bay on Anzac Day.
Emergency services were called to John Street around 8.00pm on Monday night, where they found a man unconscious.
He was taken to John Hunter Hospital where he remains with serious head injuries.
A 36-year-old man has been charged with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm.
He was given conditional bail and will appear at Belmont Local Court on May 25.
