HAMILTON SOUTH UNIT GUTTED BY FIRE

Quick thinking police officers have saved the life of a 65 year old man after a unit went up in flames at Hamilton South this morning.
The man was sleeping in the unit next door to the affected property.
Six trucks were on scene to extinguish the blaze which gutted the Glebe Street premises just before midday.
Two people were treated for smoke inhalation, while the entire unit block was evacuated as a precaution.
Fire and rescue is still investigating the cause of the fire, but don’t believe it was suspicious.
