MID NORTH COAST TRUCKIES SPARED FROM MINIMUM PAY

The Federal Government has abolished the Road Safety Remuneration Tribunal, introduced by the Gillard government.
It comes after the tribunal issued a controversial minimum pay order for owner-operated transport companies.
Member for Lyne David Gillespie told parliament he’s been inundated with concerns from local drivers about the fate of their businesses.
“That doesn’t increase his safety, that’s going to increase his chance of he and his family losing their livelihood. And I know there are plenty of others in the livestock haulage business in the Lyne electorate,” he said.
Legislation to scrap the tribunal cleared the senate 36 votes to 32 last night.
