The Newcastle Jockey Club held a special champagne barbeque this morning, to honour the achievements of the Kris Lees-trained mare, Lucia Valentina.
More than 200 members turned out to congratulate the stable following its win in the $4-million Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
The five-year-old will now head for a spell at Lees’ Ellalong Farm, before returning for a shot at the $3-million Cox Plate in October.
